First Aid For All

During our Enrichment Week pupils and parents had an opportunity to learn what to do in some emergency first aid situations.

Staff, children and parents all got the chance to watch The British Heart Foundation Heartstart video resources to look at 'ordinary day' situations where something happened and emergency first aid was required. The children in the videos demonstrated the correct actions to take is situations such as phoning 999 or 112, choking, severe bleeding, no response or no breathing from a casualty. Key Stage 2 children, and the adults whom attended the 3 parent sessions, were able to practice skills on mannequins and learnt that to perform CPR you have to do a repeated cycle of 30 chest compression's before tilting their head back to perform 2 rescue breaths.
